Popular Yoruba actor, Yomi Fash Lanso who recently emerged cultural
ambassador of Olokun festival 2015 has urged Nigerians to embrace the
traditional beliefs and values of the people to avoid being culturally
alienated.
Yomi Fash was officially unveiled on Thursday, October 22, at Suntan Beach Badagry, Lagos.
In a chat with HVP, the screen icon said, “It was a beautiful event and I am proud to have been a part of it, not just about the Yoruba culture, but I would love to see changes in our cultural tourism industry.”
Adding, he said, “The Yoruba culture is meant to be cherished and passed on to generations to come. The essence of the Olokun festival is to remind our people of those values, the traditional beliefs so they do not get lost”.
“Nigeria as a nation has been so blessed that we need to share some of these values with others, the more we talk about it and promote it, the more our children learn, and we are sure that it doesn’t get lost in the race for survival.”
